What is DHT?

DHT, or dihydrotestosterone, is a converted form of testosterone. It gets a bad reputation in the hair loss world, but it's not actually the enemy. Your body needs DHT for normal biological processes.

The problem is what DHT does at the hair follicle.

DHT binds to a site on the follicle called the androgen receptor. When it binds, it begins to restrict blood supply to that follicle. And blood supply is everything. It's how oxygen, vitamins, and nutrients reach the follicle so it can grow healthy hair. As the restriction continues, the follicle weakens. Weaker follicles produce thinner hair. Eventually, the follicle can no longer produce visible hair at all.

This is why hair supplements don't work. It's not that you're deficient in vitamins or nutrients. Most people get plenty through their normal diet. The problem is that those nutrients can't reach the follicle, because DHT is restricting the blood supply that would carry them there. You can take supplements by the handful and it won't matter.

The real solution is to address what's actually happening: block DHT from binding at the androgen receptor at the follicle. That's the mechanism behind ARB, and it's the foundation of the Adegen system.
